You must get an MOT test every year once your vehicle is over 3 years old.

Did you know that you can have your vehicle tested up to a calendar month before the due date, without losing time on your current certificate? 

This is the perfect opportunity to get any repairs that may need doing prior to your existing MOT certificate expiring. For peace of mind you know that your vehicle or motorbike is always road worthy and will be legal at all times.

The MOT test principally focuses on testing vehicle lights, brakes, steering and suspension, tyres and wheels, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle structure. An MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards, this is not the same as having your vehicle serviced and it does not check the vehicles general mechanical condition.

If your MOT has expired you can not drive your vehicle on the road until it has passed the test. You could be prosecuted if caught. The only exception is if you have already booked an MOT and you are driving your vehicle direct to the test centre.
